Kelso The Locality Integration Team (LIT), formed in December 2004, has various members drawn from Health, Education, Social Work, Family Support Services, Police and various Voluntary Agencies (both local and Borders wide). The Kelso Area LIT covers the catchment area of Kelso High School and the communities that contain its respective feeder Primary Schools encompassing the communities of Ednam to Kirk Yetholm close to the Border with England. The area contains six primary schools: Ednam Primary, Sprouston Primary, Yetholm Primary, Morebattle Primary, Edenside Primary and Broomlands Primary. Out of a total population of 23,599 (2001 census) there are 2,172 children and young people living in the area which is 9.20% of the 0-18 population of the Scottish Borders area. The picture is very similar in the under 5 age range, there are 620 children which is 9.09% of the under 5 Borders population. Kelso is the largest population centre in the area, which serves a number of small and medium sized villages over a large geographic area.
