In Your Area: Teviot & Liddesdale

Teviot & Liddesdale covers the Historic Town of Hawick and all its surrounding settlements which service the 10 primary schools within Hawick High School’s catchment area. Much of the area is largely unpopulated with the main focus of population centred around the town of Hawick, however there are four other smaller settlements at Newcastleton, Denholm, Roberton and Bonchester Bridge.

The population of Hawick town is around 16,000, with the total population of the Teviot & Liddesdale Area being 18,797. Of this 4009 are between the ages of 0 and 18, with 1031 being pre-school age (under 5).

The ten cluster primaries feeding Hawick High School are:

  • Burnfoot Community School
  • Roberton Primary
  • Denholm Primary
  • St. Margaret’s RC Primary
  • Drumlanrig Primary
  • Stirches Primary
  • Hobkirk primary
  • Trinity Primary
  • Newcastleton Primary
  • Wilton Primary
  • The Wilton Primary Resource and Spectrum Support at Denholm are specialist provisions which also fall within the Hawick catchment area, but service the whole of the borders.

The Locality Integration Manager for the Teviot & Lidddesdale area is Frank Tait.
