About Us

This site is all about how Bright New Futures is improving services for children, young people and their families in Scottish Borders. It contains information for children and young people, parents / carers and people working in children's services. You can contact us if you have an enquiry and there are links to other websites where you will find more information.

The Bright New Futures Strategy presents a vision for the future. It shows how agencies can work together to plan and deliver services for all children and young people, including times when extra support is needed.

The Integrated Children and Young People's Services Plan begins to map out how this vision can be achieved. One of the key priorities is to manage and deliver services locally. Locality Integration Teams are established within the five locality areas.

The Scottish Borders Children and Young People's Planning Partnership is the force driving the vision. It is made up of senior staff from:

  • Borders Voluntary Youth Work Forum
  • Lothian and Borders Police
  • NHS Borders
  • Scottish Borders Council Education & Lifelong Learning
  • Scottish Borders Council Social Work
  • Scottish Children's Reporter Administration
  • Voluntary Agencies

The Children and Young People's Planning Team supports the Children and Young People's Planning Partnership at an operational level. The co-located team is based at the Langlee Complex, Galashiels.

Integrated planning is supported by the work of multi-agency commissioned subgroups including:

  • Early Years
  • Transitions to Adulthood
  • Additional Support Needs (incorporating Integrated Planning, Assessment and Recording)
  • Health Improvement
  • Corporate Parenting
